Congratulations to GENERAL HOSPITAL star Finola Hughes (Anna) who is now a proud card-carrying member of the Directors Guild of America! “This happened,” the actress-turned-director shared on Instagram along with a snapshot of her membership card. “I cannot tell you how proud I am to be a new member! I have many people to thank for making this happen. Please look out for my TV directorial debut on GOOD TROUBLE in February! (Will post the date when I know).”
Becoming a DGA member is not easy. First, you must prove yourself by directing independent projects, then your application has to be approved, and you need to be endorsed by three DGA members before you can be accepted. In 2016, Hughes took some time off from GH to helm the pilot for a potential TV series titled CYPRESS BAYOU. In 2013, she also directed the independent feature The Bet and her IMDb credits list the indie movie Byrd and the Bees — featuring former castmate and good friend Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke) — as in production.
GOOD TROUBLE is the spinoff of THE FOSTERS currently airing on Freeform, and we will keep you updated on when Hughes’ episode is scheduled to air so you can be sure to tune in. Fellow actress-turned-director Kimberly McCullough, who played Hughes’ TV daughter, Robin Scorpio, was also excited by the news. “YAS!” she posted to Instagram. “Congrats. There’s something about that card that makes you feel like you’ve arrived. Welcome to the club!”
