Amber Tamblyn and Rose McGowan are in the midst of a very public fight on social media, after falling out over a plan by some actresses to wear black to the Golden Globes next month as a mark of protest against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.
McGowan, whose testimony against Harvey Weinstein to New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow that the producer raped her in 1997 was critical to exposing the predatory movie mogul, criticized the planned protest, which has been backed by actresses such as Meryl Streep and Tamblyn, and suggested the actresses all wear Marchesa, the label run by Weinstein’s estranged wife Georgina Chapman.
Tamblyn replied:
@ambertamblyn
THREAD: Rose McGowan is a friend and while I support her kind of movement, I do not support any woman (or man) shaming or taunting the movements of other women who are trying to create change. Telling us to all wear Marchesa? This is beneath you, Rose.Asia Argento, who has also alleged sexual assault by Weinstein, then criticized Tamblyn’s public attack on McGowan.
Tamblyn, who has alleged that the actor James Woods tried to pick her up when she was underage, replied.

I wish you’d have written this thread addressing it directly to @rosemcgowan, or even better, called or texted her, since you are friends.@ambertamblyn
Asia, I did. I spoke to her for over an hour.McGowan’s Charmed co-star Holly Marie Combs shot back:

You just did to @rosemcgowan what you claim you don’t support her doing to others. Every activist for every cause the world over has different methods but share a common and more important message that should remain the same. And undiluted above all else.
