DALLAS — Queen Sugar is probably the most addicting shows on TV right now, and Dallas’ very own Greg Vaughan is a part of it’s sweet success. He plays the role of Calvin, a white married cop who’s having an affair with Nova –a black journalist and activist.

But before working he got the role on Queen Sugar, Greg has managed to dedicate 27 years to the entertainment industry. Including working with some of the world’s top fashion designers by the age of 21.

“My modeling career started right here in Dallas in a back to school fashion search,” he told NewsFix. “I have been very fortunate to do international campaigns including Versace and Armani.

But, Greg always knew his real passion was acting. He eventually met Dallas native Aaron Spelling who cast him in shows like Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 90210.

“Aaron kept me in the family for the next six to seven years,” he added. “There are many things that happened, and I just kind of jump-shipped around to try and find different opportunities.”

Greg then jumped ship to daytime television where he starred in soaps such as Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.

But now, he’s playing one of his most challenging roles to date. The love story between Nova and Calvin is considered unconventional and something you really don’t see much on TV.

“We’re dealing with 21st-century situations,” he explained. “As an actor, I look for things to dive into because I want to be taken on the journey.”

When Greg’s not filming, he’s raising his three sons and supporting The GOFARR Fund. An organization dedicated to helping those suffering from chronic kidney disease.

“It’s just something that I think is important. If I’m in a position to do something different I want to take that and be a part of something greater.”
