After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Shannen Doherty meticulously documented every step of her treatment on Instagram, from shaving her head to the horrors of chemo — and eventually her remission in April 2017. The actor, best known for “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Heathers” and “Charmed,” would post multiple times each week, also peppering her feed with her workouts, dinners with friends and family and — one of Doherty’s passions — images of dogs in urgent need of adoption. “At that time, I think I needed it,” she says now about chronicling her treatment. And having been a fixture in the tabloids for decades, Doherty wanted to be in control of the narrative: “I wanted to own my life. It’s my life!” The social engagement carried her through, especially as other people shared their own stories in her Instagram comments. “It was empowering,” she says.

Doherty’s cancer recurred in early winter 2019, and is now metastatic Stage 4 cancer. She can be treated but not cured; she’s living with this disease for the rest of her life. And right now, on Instagram, though she still posts once or twice a week, she’s very much not detailing what this experience has been like. “I’m in a hermit phase?” Doherty says with a laugh, using upspeak. “I’m sort of taking all that energy and giving it to myself at the moment.”What she’s concentrating on is not only working, but proving to Hollywood that people with cancer can work. “The best example that I can continue to set for other people with cancer, and to the outside world who doesn’t have cancer,” Doherty says, “is to show them what a cancer patient looks like. We are employable.
“So for me, I’m just trying to live the best I can, to be the best example at this moment.”
And she’s doing just that. Doherty, who turned 50 in April, filmed three movies back to back this year. Two of them will air during the same weekend — on Oct. 9 and 10 — on Lifetime. The first, “Dying to Belong,” is a remake of a 1997 TV movie (with Hilary Swank) about the dangers of sorority hazing, and it is archetypal Lifetime: an issues-oriented examination of a tragedy that also manages to entertain. In it, Doherty plays the mother of the girl who’s been hazed to death; she won’t accept the university’s account of the events, and turns investigator with the help of her daughter’s best friend. The second movie, “List of a Lifetime,” is about a woman (Kelly Hu) who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer, and gets in touch with the adult daughter she’d placed for adoption to tell her she may have the BRCA gene. Doherty plays the young woman’s adoptive mother, who at first is less than enthused about the intrusion — but comes around. The third project, a Bruce Willis action extravaganza called “The Fortress,” will be released next year in theaters.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the creative team behind “List of a Lifetime” was “tossing names around” with the network about who might direct the special content that would air after the film. Doherty, who has directing experience, including three episodes of “Charmed,” volunteered. Lifetime agreed, and Doherty’s call to action — featuring herself and her co-stars, and shot in an empty warehouse — will accompany the movie.

Netflix heeft alsnog besloten om de serie ‘Manifest’ te redden nadat de eerste 3 seizoen die op de Amerikaanse Netflix te streamen zijn goed bekeken werd. De streamingsdienst heeft aangekondigd een vierde en laatste seizoen van de serie te maken met 20 afleveringen. Inmiddels is al bekend dat vele vaste castleden te zien zullen zijn in het nieuwe seizoen, het is nog onbekend of ook Ellen haar rol als Drea weer zal gaan vertolken.
Even geleden werd duidelijk dat Netflix de door NBC stopgezette serie Manifest een vierde seizoen gaat geven. Er worden zelfs twintig nieuwe afleveringen gemaakt. Nu is er weer wat nieuws te melden rond de plannen.
Volgens Deadline heeft de streamingdienst de belangrijkste hoofdrolspelers terug weten te halen voor het nieuwe seizoen. Dit zijn de ‘regulars’ Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, J.R. Ramirez, Parveen Kaur, Luna Blaise en Holly Taylor.

Ook acteur Ty Doran zal te zien zijn en hij krijgt nu een vaste rol in de show. Hij speelde een oudere versie van het personage Cal Stone in seizoen drie. Acteur Jack Messina zal hierdoor niet terugkeren voor het afrondende seizoen.In Manifest ervaart een vlucht een korte periode van zware turbulentie. Als deze landt wordt duidelijk dat het vijf en een half jaar later is. Iedereen dacht dat de passagiers dood waren. Aan het einde van het derde seizoen werd er een flinke tijdsprong gemaakt.
Het lijkt er verdacht veel op dat het vierde seizoen uit twee delen gaat bestaan, gezien de geplande twintig afleveringen.
Kijkcijferkanon
Netflix zal ongetwijfeld snel willen starten met de opnames om van het momentum gebruik te kunnen maken. De eerste drie seizoenen van Manifest bleken een kijkcijferkanon in de States.
Actrice Lucy Barrett is gecast als de nieuwe ‘Charmed One’ in het vierde seizoen van ‘Charmed’. De Australische actrice is o.a. bekend van haar rol in de serie ‘Bloom’ en de soapserie ‘Neighbours’. Ook het plot voor het aankomende seizoen verschenen.
Mel en Maggie’s leven is veranderd na de dood van hun geliefde zus Macy. Maar hun rouw zorgt ervoor dat de Power Of 3 voor altijd verdwijnt, de verassende komst van een derde Charmed One geeft ze de kans om hun lot alsnog te vervullen. En dit komt op een niet betere tijd nu er een mysterieuze nieuwe vijand opduikt uit de schaduwen, die angst zaait in de elke hoek van de magische wereld. Wanneer deze vijand de Charmed Ones en hun bondgenoten Harry en Jordan steeds meer in zijn machtsspel krijgt is het de vraag of het nieuwe trio er klaar voor is wat er gaat komen.
Verdere details over Lucy’s personages zoals naam achtergrond, magische krachten en connectie met Mel & Maggie worden bewust nog niet gedeeld met fans. In een verklaring laten de showrunners weten dit dat ze hopen dat het zo leuker is voor de fans. Wel laten ze weten dat de nieuwe Charmed een kunstenaar is, met een wilde voorliefde voor het leven die een aparte kijk heeft op de wereld die haar help met haar kunst. The CW’s Charmed reboot has found its new “Charmed One”. Australian actress Lucy Barrett (Co-Ed) has joined Melonie Diaz, who plays Mel, and Sarah Jeffery (Maggie) as a lead in the upcoming fourth season of the series, from CBS Studios.
Barrett is succeeding Madeleine Mantock who played co-lead Macy for the first three seasons. The major on-screen change is accompanied by a behind-the-scenes transition heading into Season 4, with Jeffery Lieber, Nicki Renna and Joey Falco replacing Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro as new showrunners.
.Lieber, Renna and Falco are keeping mum on Barrett’s character.
“Her name, backstory, powers, and connection to Mel and Maggie are being kept under wraps, because…well…it’s just more fun that way,” they said in a statement. “What we will say is…she’s an artist, with a wild, unpredictable love for life and a one-of-a-kind view of the world that serves her well in her art, which is her life’s passion. She’s fun, irreverent, impulsive, strong-willed, and will bring a brand-new energy to the Power of Three.”
In season four of Charmed, Mel (Diaz) and Maggie (effery) find their lives transformed by the death of their beloved sister, Macy. But when their grief threatens to undo the Power of Three forever, the surprising arrival of a third Charmed One ( Barrett) gives them a renewed opportunity to fulfill their destinies.

Barrett is probably best known for her leading role on the Web series Co-Ed, produced by The Duplass Brothers, and will next be seen in the features Black Site, opposite Jason Clarke & Michelle Monaghan, and Sissy. Like many Australian stars, Barrett came through the country’s venerable soap Neighbours. Her additional credits include series Bloom and the revival of the police drama Halifax Retribution. Barrett is repped by AKA Talent Agency and Active Artists Management.
Actrice Kaley Cuoco en haar man Karl Cook gaan scheiden. In een gezamenlijke verklaring aan People laat het stel weten dat ze met „diepe liefde en respect voor elkaar” uit elkaar gaan. De twee waren drie jaar getrouwd.

Rose McGowan, o.a. bekend van de serie Charmed, had een hele belangrijke rol in de #MeToo-beweging. Zij was namelijk een van de eerste bekendheden die Harvey Weinstein beschuldigde van aanranding. Nu haalt McGowan ook uit naar Oprah Winfrey.
Zo deelde de actrice een zeven jaar oude foto, waarin Oprah de in ongenade gevallen producent op de wang kust. Dit gebeurde tijdens de Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Het kiekje is hieronder te zien.
McGowan deelde de foto op haar Twitter, met de volgende tekst: ”Ik ben blij dat we eindelijk achter de lelijke waarheid van Oprah komen. Ik zou willen dat ze echt zo is zoals iedereen haar ziet, maar dat is gewoon niet zo.”

Zij verliet echter het project, iets wat veel mensen niet goed begrepen. De bekende talkshowhost en actrice is nu ook onder vuur komen te liggen, nadat oude clips online zijn opgedoken, waarin Oprah Dolly Parton interviewde over plastische chirurgie en haar strijd tegen depressie.

There’s been a shift in showrunners for the CW’s Charmed as Jeffrey Lieber, Joey Falco and Nicki Renna take over as showrunners for the drama’s Season 4, Deadline has confirmed.
The trio will step in for Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro who helmed the series since the beginning of Season 2, following Carter Covington’s exit after Season 1. Kruger and Shapiro will remain on board as executive producers.
“We have treasured our time on Charmed during the last two seasons and look forward to continuing on as executive producers while we pursue our development with CBS Studios,” Kruger and Shapiro said in a statement. “We are excited for the fans to see what the new team of Nicki, Joey and Jeffrey have in store for Season 4 and are confident that the show is in excellent hands!”
Charmed follows three sisters (Melonie Diaz, Madeline Mantock, Sarah Jeffrey) in a college town who, after the tragic death of their mother, are stunned to discover they are witches. Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.
In Season 3, the Charmed Ones along with their whitelighter Harry (Rupert Evans) continue their battle with The Faction — a cabal of humans trying to steal magic for themselves, led by billionaire Julian Shea (guest star Eric Balfour).
Following an epic standoff, we join The Charmed Ones as they are forced to try and save the magical world from extinction and navigate a mysterious magical allergy. As the sisters are challenged in new ways romantically, personally and professionally, they will face down monsters in both the magical and human world – the likes of which they have never seen.
Earlier this summer, Charmed bid farewell to Mantock, who appeared as eldest sister Macy Vaughn since the beginning of the reboot. The Season 3 finale saw Macy succumb to a deadly fungus and die.
Falco told TVLine, who broke the news first, that Season 4 will tackle the major death at the end of the previous season. He shared that “this seasons is going to be about grief and trauma, and how that can change people.” The showrunners also teased a storyline about sisterhood and a new character who’s “edgy and smart and has a wicked sense of humor.”
The series also stars Poppy Drayton and Jordan Donica.

It was announced today that Madeleine Mantock will be making her West End debut as she steps into the role of Elvira in the West End production of Blithe Spirit playing at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 16 September for a limited 8-week run.

The gone-wrong, witty and meticulously engineered comedy tells the story of a couple haunted by a previous relationship – literally.
The show had a record-breaking run in the West End and on Broadway and remains one of the playwright’s most popular works.
Novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth are literally haunted by a past relationship when an eccentric medium inadvertently conjures up the ghost of his first wife, Elvira, at a séance. When she appears, visible only to Charles, and determined to sabotage his current marriage, life – and the afterlife – get complicated.
