Drew Fuller heeft een interview gehad met website lowcountrytoday.com, hier praatte hij o.a. over de veranderingen in het zesde seizoen van ‘Army Wives’!
Lifetime’s hit television series, ‘Army Wives’ is now full swing into it’s sixth season. The extremely popular cable TV has broached many scenarios during their run, but this year ‘Army Wives’ has seen a number of changes, with new faces popping up and a few cast members exiting the show.
One of the most notable changes this season deals with Drew Fuller. The 31 year old former male model has portrayed staff sergeant Trevor LeBlanc since day one, but this season he is taking on a new role. As is common in the military, Fuller’s character has advanced from the enlisted ranks to that of a junior officer.Fuller welcomes the role reversal. “It’s opened a great new chapter for Trevor. After having seen what the Army is like as an enlisted man he now can see it through the eyes of an officer.” Some of the early 2012 episodes have Trevor dealing with the adjustment, often handling situations as his former self. “The writers are coming up with clever story lines and taking Trevor down a whole different path. It’s been a good transition.”
Another storyline that has played out in season six has been the departure of Brigid Brannagh’s character Pamela Moran, who was the best friend of Roxy (Sally Pressman), Trevor’s wife on the show. Pamela decides to follow her special ops husband to California leaving Roxy distraught. According to Fuller it was time to represent that element on the show.
“It was an one of the most emotional episodes we‘ve done, but one that was overdue. The writers do their best to portray all we do on ‘Army Wives’ as realistic as possible. We’ve maintained our core group for five years. But the reality of the military is that personnel, including their families get transferred. It was time the show dealt with that issue. Tinkering with the dynamics of the show is a good thing.”
Season five ended on a cliff hanger with Fort Marshall facing closure and the cast all facing reassignment. But Mother Nature stepped in at the beginning of season six and put a halt to that. After a hurricane takes out a base in North Carolina, Fort Marshall gets a reprieve with those devastated by the storm being relocated to Charleston.Fuller is impressed. “Again I have to give it up to the writers. They are always coming up with great story lines. We have some of the best writers working on ‘Army Wives’. The writers are one of the reasons the show has been so successful. They are very imaginative and always pushing the envelope with the show. I think that keeps us honest and keeps us growing.”
A California native Fuller says he feels comfortable in the low country. He spends as much as half the year here while the show is in production. “I’m an outdoor kind of guy. The weather is great here almost all the time so it allows me to spend time doing things I enjoy.” Fuller is an avid motorcycle rider and enjoys playing golf.
Prior to finding a permanent home on ‘Army Wives’ Fuller spent four seasons on ‘Charmed’. He has several film credits on his resume as well as a few music video appearances. When he’s not playing the tried and true soldier and family man on ‘Army Wives’ Fuller seeks out other projects. “The show has been great for me. It’s opened a few doors. I try to stay busy when the season wraps. I’m and actor and I’m always looking for projects that are different than I’ve done previously.”
With ‘Army Wives’ being a bona fide hit on Lifetime and one of cable TV’s most watched shows, Fuller says he content right now. “The show is great. We’ve got an amazing cast and crew. We all get along well and I enjoy playing Trevor. We’ve enjoyed a good run and hopefully that will continue.” ‘Army Wives’ airs 9pm Sunday nights .
