Alyssa Milano shut down a social media troll who snarkily referred to her mental health struggles.

“Did you forget to take your medication?” the user asked in one of her videos. “First of all, no I did not forget to take my medication,” Milano, 48, responded candidly in a separate clip. “I take my medication every day.”

Detailing her medical history, she continued, “I have anxiety with complex PTS and panic disorder, so I take my medicine because I like to just be functional.” The “Who’s The Boss?” star then added, “I think it’s time that we de-stigmatize medication from mental health like we’ve de-stigmatized say, I don’t know, Botox. OK, thanks for listening.”

Milano reiterated her point in her caption, writing, “Can we try to get away from flippantly using mental health language as descriptors or insults?”

Several fans and celebs, including fellow celeb Sharon Stone, applauded the former “Charmed” star for her stance on mental health. “Brava,” Stone wrote. One fan commented, “Preach🙌 I’m so over society using metal health as a comical insult. Let’s not shame or demoralize people for wanting to maintain a level of health and functioning.”

Milano has been working to normalize the public’s view on mental health struggles since 2018. That year, she revealed in an essay for TIME magazine that she began battling anxiety after the birth of her son Milo in 2011. “My Generalized Anxiety Disorder was most likely triggered by my postpartum depression, and my journey with mental illnesses began with my journey into motherhood,” she shared.

The TV star also disclosed in that piece that she suffered an anxiety attack her first night back from the hospital. “I felt like I had already disappointed my child,” she wrote. “I felt like I failed as a mother, since I was not able to give birth vaginally or nourish him with the breast milk that had not come in yet. My heart raced. My stomach seized up. I felt like I was dying.”

Earlier this week, Milano continued to be candid with her followers in a video about the work it took to overcome her anxiety, urging her followers in the caption, “Ask for help if you need it. ❤️.”

Alyssa Milano is sending a strong message about COVID-19 in her new PSA for The Creative Coalition, advocating for everyone to get vaccinated and opening up about her own experience with the disease.

“I’m not sure when I’ll feel like myself again, and that’s hard for me to admit,” Milano says in the ad. “I got COVID. So many others died, and yet I’m lucky. I’m still here. But so are my long-haul symptoms. Even the best doctors and scientists don’t know what to expect moving forward. But what they do know is that we now have a vaccine against this devastating virus. It is safe and effective. It can keep you from getting critically ill.”

She continues, “I wish this vaccine had been around before so many of us had gotten sick. But it is here now. For you. This shot means that you can be there again with family, friends, and neighbours. Be there. This is your shot.”

In an interview with People, Milano spoke about why she decided to participate in the PSA.

“I knew that it was something that I wanted to be involved in, because I don’t see how there’s going to be an end to this if we don’t get people vaccinated — and that’s not only the people in our country but people throughout the world,” she said. “So, if I can take my experience from having COVID and be able to turn it around and help people, I’m all for it.”

While the actress is mostly recovered, she said that she is still experiencing symptoms like shortness of breath, brain fog and “aches and pains that feel like they’re on a skeletal level.”

“I’m done with fighting it, so I’ve kind of just almost surrendered to the idea that this might be how I feel now for the rest of my life,” she added. “But I try to rest more and drink lots of water and take my supplements and do the best that I can.”

After getting the vaccine, Milano did notice some of her symptoms seemed to improve.

“I do think that there was some improvement, although it’s not that anything was completely alleviated,” she said. “It just felt like less of everything.”

She added, “I just got my second shot on Thursday, and I had some chills and aches and pains, but it’s a lot less than actually suffering from COVID. There’s just so much that we still don’t know, and with the variants and the different ways that COVID can mutate, it could cause another shutdown. The vaccine is completely safe for people who have had COVID and I think it’s really important that everyone, including those who have had COVID, get vaccinated.”

“Just because you say something to be hurtful, it doesn’t make it true,” the Charmed actress, 48, said on TikTok

Alyssa Milano isn’t afraid to clap back at hateful comments on social media.

The actress, 48, posted a video on TikTok Wednesday, responding to a comment from a user saying, “sad how a washed-up actress is still trying to be important.”

“This ‘washed-up actress’ has something to say,” Milano captioned her response video.

She began the video by pointing to the comment in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and saying, “See these? I get a lot of those. Usually, it comes from people who identify as a different political party than I do.”

She continued, “You see, I identify with the party who believes in equality and equity and opportunity for everyone, and also the party who fights for the most vulnerable and the marginalized communities.”

Addressing the commenter’s choice to call her “washed-up,” Milano decided to set the record straight.

“But beyond just that, just because you say something to be hurtful, it doesn’t make it true. I have consistently worked since I was 7 years old, and you can just f— off now and move along,” she concluded.

Milano began her acting career when she was selected as one of four principal parts for a national touring company of Annie. She then went on to star in several off-Broadway productions, including the first American musical adaptation of Jane Eyre.

The actress made her film debut in the 1984 coming-of-age drama Old Enough and got her start in television when she won the role of Tony Danza’s daughter on the sitcom Who’s the Boss?

Last year, Danza, 69, and Milano revealed that an update to the popular ‘8os sitcom is in the works.

“Excited to bring The Micelli family back to television! #WhosTheBoss,” Danza tweeted alongside a throwback promotional shot of himself and Milano.

Meanwhile, the actress wrote on her Instagram, “🚨ANNOUNCEMENT🚨 I AM SO EXCITED! #WhosTheBoss is coming back!!!”

“I’ve wanted to share this for so long and now I can!” Milano continued. “We feel the time is right to tell the story of where these amazing characters are today. Can’t wait to share their stories with you. So happy.”

Sony Pictures Television is currently developing the project as a sequel to Who’s the Boss?, according to Deadline, who was first to report the news. Both Danza and Milano are attached to reprise their roles as father and daughter Tony and Samantha Micelli and the two will also executive produce the show along with Norman Lear, Brent Miller and Dan Farah.

In December, following the Thanksgiving holiday when lockdowns again became necessary because millions of people selfishly decided to ignore Covid-19 guidelines, the economy lost 140,000 jobs. On its own, that’s bad enough, but it’s not even close to the whole story. The truly shocking part is that women made up 100% of those job losses, losing a total of 156,000 jobs, while men gained 16,000 jobs that month. While women fared better than men in the January jobs report, 275,000 left the labor force that month.

These statistics are illustrative of just how severely this pandemic is affecting women. This why I support the Marshall Plan for Moms, which attempts to bring equity back to women and the labor force. Its most discussed feature — a short-term monthly payment to moms to compensate for the unpaid and often invisible labor we are doing — is so important, but it’s just a small part of what the plan will achieve.

Other fundamental tenets include passing policies that support working women such as pay equity, family leave and affordable childcare; retraining programs that will help women step into emerging jobs; and safely re-opening schools to take the childcare burden off mothers. By focusing on these issues, the plan will begin to address persistent structural disadvantages that take economic power and freedom from women and perpetuate a workforce that allows us to be underpaid and left out of positions of power and influence. When we can go back to the paid workforce, a Marshall Plan for Moms can make sure we can do it in a way that is equitable.
We all already know that the economy and jobs market are worse for women. As a whole, we are paid 82 cents for every dollar men make, according to a report from the American Association of University Women based on US Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ data. It’s even worse for Black, Indigenous and women of color: According to the same report, Black women make just 63% of what white men make, and Latina women make just 55%. At the outset of the pandemic last spring, women were disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Our unemployment rate increased by 12.8% compared to 9.9% for men between February and April of 2020. Not only do we make less money when we are employed, it’s harder for us to get and keep jobs.
But to be clear, it’s not that women aren’t working; it’s that we are doing the critical and extremely difficult unpaid labor of motherhood. And for so many women during the pandemic, this is a forced career change, one they did not ask for and did not train for, but one which they undertook anyway.

Last September alone, four times as many women left the labor force as men, and twice as many women as men did so for childcare purposes. At home, we suddenly became teachers and full-time caregivers. We’re figuring out how to keep our kids engaged in their education and participating in schooling — often without any support. My kids are a few years apart in age — which means a big difference in how and what they are taught — and it’s often on us moms to figure out how to make that work. I’m very lucky that I have support and resources to do this, but I know countless women in America do not.
It’s not just education we’re managing, though. It’s the mental health of our kids who have been unable to see their friends and do the normal socializing and activities that are critical to their development. We’re managing households, figuring out how to get groceries safely and without the finances we had when we had paying jobs. We’re doing the domestic work of the home and doing it with a whole new level of care and attention because we don’t want one particle of the virus surviving in our households. We’re working so much more — and we’re not getting paid for it.

Look, I get that dedicating funds to compensate mothers might sound impossible. Covid-19 just gutted our economy. It has stripped the country down to its foundations and laid bare so much deep rot lurking inside its walls. But this is our chance for a remodel. We can fix the problems and rebuild the job market in a way that is better, safer, and more equitable for all.

The Marshall Plan for Moms is an important first step. There hasn’t been an opportunity like this to mold workforce practices since World War II, when millions of women entered the workplace for the first time. We failed women then by stripping the gains they made once the war ended. When men came back from the war, women left the workforce in droves and went back to working for free at home; the ones who remained in the workforce were often demoted. Generations later, women still have not achieved workplace equity. We can’t let that happen now. We need to get it right this time.
This pandemic has illustrated, once again, a core truth of our nation: the work of women is essential. It’s time we were paid like it.

“I haven’t seen it, I can’t say that. I’ve never seen it. I’m happy that people have jobs – but it can still suck.”

“You know, I saw this earlier and I refrained from saying anything. I thought, better to just let them shout into the abyss. But I do want to say, I find it sad and quite frankly pathetic to see grown women behaving this way. I truly hope they find happiness elsewhere, and not in the form of putting down other WOC. I would be embarrassed to behave this way. Peace and love to y’all.”

In other news, my dad met the lovely @DohertyShannen on set once whilst standing in. He approached her saying his daughter was a new Charmed one (pre-covid!). He told me she was so kind, thrilled for us, and excited to take a picture. She sent her love. 🥰

“That’s some bullshit. And a lot of it. Clearly. People speaking, excuse me typing, derogatory accusations of a person’s character despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary because of a difference in opinions about a tv show is just plain wrong. And also personal gain honey.”

“My Charmed friends … I would like everyone to stop. Truth be told and it will be told is that our issues were and are at the corporate level. And we have the receipts. Just as the new cast were asked to be people they were not we were given ultimatums that were crazily unfair. And I will say to the ladies of the reboot… stick together… negotiate together and know that the discourse between us, you guys and crews being discarded and replaced is what they bank on. Division. That is all. Blessed be.

And for the last time I will say it’s not about any 1 person taking a job to support their families or themselves. It’s about an industry that sees us only as numbers whether it be follower #’s or $ signs. Cuz in the end and actually in the beginning that’s all we were/are. Cool.”

A podcast about the Power of Three could happen. Holly Marie Combs recently shared that a Charmed podcast isn’t out of the question. The star who played Piper Halliwell in The WB series for eight years said she’s giving a Charmed podcast some thought. Combs even revealed she spoke to her former co-star and fellow Halliwell sister Shannen Doherty about the possibility.

“I can’t believe how many kids have asked for that and I call them kids, but they’re like, 30, but because I’m so old that they are kids still,” she told Us Weekly in an interview published on Aug. 22. “I actually did talk to Shannen about it and she was like, ‘Alyssa [Milano] would probably love to do that with you!’ Maybe after the election, it would be good.”

Seeing as Combs already has one successful podcast about Pretty Little Liars, she’s definitely the right person to pursue a podcast about Piper, Paige (Rose McGowan), Phoebe (Milano), and Prue (Doherty) Halliwell. Her current PLL podcast is appropriately titled “Pretty Little Wine Moms,” and features her former costars, Lesley Fera and Nia Peeples. They rewatch episodes, chat with other actors from the show, and even have Zoom calls with fans.

A similar format for Charmed might work as well, or she could come up with a completely new format. Whatever the case, Combs isn’t ruling out the future potential project. Plus, when Drew Fuller, who played Piper’s son on Charmed, jokes that Combs won’t let him be a “wine mom,” a Charmed podcast sounds like the next best decision since Fuller could very much contribute.

Even with all of the recent “family drama” between McGowan and Milano, Combs continues to act like big sister Piper, proving she’s destined to keep the legacy of Charmed alive. For those unaware, after much heated back and forth between the two on Twitter beginning Aug. 21, McGowan alleged that Milano “made that set toxic AF.” Milano didn’t respond to McGowan’s Charmed claims directly, but a rep for the star told People, “Hurt people hurt people. Commenting any further doesn’t align with my wellness plan.”

As for Combs, she tweeted on Aug. 22, “I mean was there ever an episode where we all got along? No. No one would’ve watched that show. It’s ok. Call your siblings, parents and grandparents. Breathe deep thankfully. Life is short and just got shorter for many. That’s what Piper would’ve said. As she blew something up.”

Doherty also tweeted directly to the Charmed fans, “I just want to say…. thank you Charmed fans. No matter what’s happening just know you are appreciated and loved.”

This was me on April 2nd after being sick for 2 weeks. I had never been this kind of sick. Everything hurt. Loss of smell. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t keep food in me. I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I was confused. Low grade fever. And the headaches were horrible. I basically had every Covid symptom. At the very end of march I took two covid19 tests and both were negative. I also took a covid antibody test (the finger prick test) after I was feeling a bit better. NEGATIVE. After living the last 4 months with lingering symptoms like, vertigo, stomach abnormalities, irregular periods, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, zero short term memory, and general malaise, I went and got an antibody test from a blood draw (not the finger prick) from a lab. I am POSITIVE for covid antibodies. I had Covid19. I just want you to be aware that our testing system is flawed and we don’t know the real numbers. I also want you to know, this illness is not a hoax. I thought I was dying. It felt like I was dying. I will be donating my plasma with hopes that I might save a life. Please take care of yourselves. Please wash your hands and wear a mask and social distance. I don’t want anyone to feel the way I felt. Be well. I love you all (well, maybe not the trolls. Just the kind people.)❤️

“Laat me je maskers zien! Maskers houden mensen veilig en gezond. Laat me die van jou zien! Klaar? Go!”, aldus haar enthousiaste tweet.

Rose McGowan addressed her negative tweets directed at fellow actress and activist Alyssa Milano as well as her thoughts on the conviction and sentencing of her alleged rapist, Harvey Weinstein.

McGowan previously tweeted a scathing rebuke of her “Charmed” co-star following comments she made about Joe Biden’s accuser during an interview with Andy Cohen. Milano said that she was keeping silent on allegations of sexual assault against the Democratic presidential candidate, noting that she even showed restraint when it came to Weinstein, arguing that it’s important for investigations to happen when allegations occur.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Bevy Smith show “Bevelations,” McGowan explained that she felt it was necessary to point out that Milano is taking credit for speaking against Weinstein while remaining silent about Biden’s accuser.

“Like Alyssa, a lot of people just kind of jumped on the train and she said something recently in an Andy Cohen interview like, ‘if you remember I took a long time to speak out on Harvey’ and like, what the hell did you have to do with Harvey? Nothing. Absolutely nothing, like nothing. Shut up,” McGowan said.

Her recent comments echo those she wrote to Milano on Twitter in a fiery post earlier this month.

“You are a fraud. This is about holding the media accountable. You go after Trump & Kavanaugh saying Believe Victims, you are a lie,” McGowan wrote at the time. “You have always been a lie. The corrupt DNC is in on the smear job of Tara Reade, so are you. SHAME.”

Tara Reade, an apparent supporter of Biden’s former rival, Bernie Sanders, who dropped out of the presidential race and then endorsed the former vice president, came forward with allegations of sexual assault against Biden and McGowan seems upset that Milano is giving Biden a pass on them.

Later in her interview, McGowan noted that she feels Milano is “gaslighting the public” by picking whom she’ll believe about sexual assault.

“I don’t like sacred cows. I don’t like people that are held up to be better than other people and I don’t like people that don’t really do the right thing and behind the scenes are aiding and abetting alleged criminals. I just don’t and I won’t stand for it,” she told the host.

In a separate interview with Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg, the hosts asked McGowan, who is promoting her new album “Planet 9,” how she feels now that Harvey Weinstein is behind bars. The actress was one of the more vocal voices in 2017 when the now-disgraced movie mogul faced countless accusations of sexual misconduct and assault.

“Thank you goddesses in the world and men that saw things differently on the jury and the women that testified and all the women that just hung through and all the people in the world during that period,” McGowan said during her appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show.” “I really feel like ‘Planet 9’ is my gift to the world of like, ‘hey guys, we went through a really f—ing hard, gross time where we had to see f—face pig monster every day and it triggered a lot of people and opened a lot of their wounds daily, daily, daily relentlessly. I had to do that and I’m sorry, but I had to do that because we have to look at the collective wound that we’re all walking around with.”

She concluded: “I feel like I have 350-pound slug monster off my neck. I’ve had this foot on my back for 22 years. That’s a really long time.”
