The CW heeft 12 van zijn series vernieuwd voor extra seizoenen, hieronder is ook ‘Charmed’ vernieuwd voor seizoen 4! De reden voor de vroege aankondiging is zodat productieteams genoeg tijd hebben om het vervolg verhaal uit te werken ect. Ik vermoed dat de Covid-pandemie hier ook mee te maken heeft omdat het gehele seizoen daardoor nu pas later begon dan normaal januari 2021 i.p.v oktober 2020. En dat ze hiermee zorgen dat de vervolgseizoen wel weer zoals altijd in het najaar kunnen starten.

The CW Network today renewed 12 of its current scripted series for the 2021-2022 season, including its new breakout hit WALKER, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO, The CW Network. Additionally, The CW is ordering 5 additional episodes for this season of WALKER, bringing its total episode count for 2020-2021 to 18, and 2 additional episodes of SUPERMAN & LOIS, bringing its total episode count for 2020-2021 to 15.

“Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,” said Pedowitz. “As The CW’s 2020-2021 season kicks into high gear, we are thrilled creatively with the direction of our first new shows out of the gate, WALKER and SUPERMAN & LOIS, that we wanted to order the additional episodes to complete their first seasons, and we are particularly pleased with the huge success of the launch of WALKER, which debuted as our most watched series premiere in 5 years.”

The current series being ordered for the 2021-2022 season include a second season of WALKER, which recently scored The CW’s most watched series premiere in 5 years, as well as ALL AMERICAN (Season 4), BATWOMAN (Season 3), CHARMED (Season 4), DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (Season 7), DYNASTY (Season 5), THE FLASH (Season 8), IN THE DARK (Season 4), LEGACIES (Season 4), NANCY DREW (Season 3), RIVERDALE (Season 6) and ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO (Season 4). Specific premiere dates for each series will be announced at a later time.

The CW heeft de eerste promotionele posters vrijgegeven van het derde seizoen van ‘Charmed’. Helaas zijn hiervoor geen nieuwe fotoshoot voor gebruikt, ook voor dit seizoen zijn outtakes gebruikt uit de promotieshoot die gemaakt is voor seizoen 1. Een nieuwe promotionele fotoshoot had wel leuk geweest na ruim 2 jaar :)

De verwachting is dat de aankomende weken de eerste afleveringstills zullen verschijnen, nu de release van seizoen 3 op 24 januari op de CW dichterbij komt.

De eerste trailer van seizoen 3 is verschenen, nu nog ruim een maand wachten tot de eerste afleveringen!

Acteur J.J. Hawkins zal de eerste transgender rol in ‘Charmed’ gaan spelen. Hij is gecast in de terugkerende rol van Kevin een student die één van de ‘Charmed Ones’ zal inspireren.

Transgender actor J.J. Hawkins is set to join The CW’s Charmed for the third season.

Hawkins will become the first trans actor on the reboot of the iconic show. He joins the cast in the recurring role of Kevin, a transgender male college student who inspires one of the Charmed Ones to take on a very formidable opponent. This is another step forward in authentic representation with a trans actor playing a trans role. The news of Hawkins’ casting couldn’t come at a better time considering this week marks Trans Awareness Week.

Het tweede seizoen van ‘Charmed’ zal op 23 november beginnen op de Britse zender E4. Hopelijk komt hiermee de release van de DVD van seizoen 2 dichterbij, aangezien we regio 2 dvd’s ook hier in NL kunnen bekijken :)

The second season of Charmed will receive its UK premiere on E4 on Monday November 23rd at 5pm and will then continue to air on weekdays in that time-slot, it has been announced.

Charmed follows three sisters in a college town who, after the tragic death of their mother, are stunned to discover they are witches. Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Propagate Content and stars Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, Sara Jeffrey, Rupert Evans, Ser’Darius Blain, Charlie Gillespie and Ellen Tamaki.

In the next new episode, titled Safe Space, following the devastating loss of The Elders, Mel (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) and Macy (Madeleine Mantock) take over their duties. Maggie takes time to celebrate her birthday with a big bash, but Mel finds herself too preoccupied with their new responsibilities to join in the fun. As the girls clean up the following morning, Macy shocks her sisters with an announcement. A mysterious hooded foe attacks The Charmed Ones who escape through a portal while Harry (Rupert Evans) has an unnerving encounter with the villain. The girls land in a secret location where they uncover more about the mystical world of The Elders… and community workspaces. Macy nurses a serious wound and Maggie meets a handsome stranger (Jordan Donica.) The Charmed Ones quickly become aware of the gravity of their new roles and must decide if they are truly prepared for the responsibility.

De opnames van het derde seizoen van ‘Charmed’ zijn tijdelijk stilgelegd door een Covid-19 besmetting, vooralsnog is er geen berichtgeven dat het nieuwe seizoen hierdoor later zal verschijnen op de The CW.

Best een grote tegenslag voor The CW-serie Charmed. De opnames van het nieuwe seizoen zijn stilgelegd. Dat komt omdat iemand in de crew van de televisieserie positief getest is op het coronavirus.

Voor nu ligt de productie dus stil, zodat CBS Studios, dat de serie produceert, een bron- en contactonderzoek uit kan zoeken. Het is ook niet de eerste keer dat de productie van de serie stil is komen te liggen. Eerder dit jaar gebeurde dat ook al, omdat er vertraging was bij het bekend maken van bepaalde testuitslagen.

Volgend jaar
De serie Charmed gaat in de loop van volgend jaar verder op The CW. Dan zien we het derde seizoen. Dat de serie al zo ver is gekomen is ergens nog best knap. De oorspronkelijke castleden waren namelijk helemaal niet blij dat de productie opgepakt werd zonder hun bemoeienis.

In deze nieuwe Charmed-serie volgen we wederom drie zussen die magische krachten hebben. Zij moeten het opnemen voor het goede.

Acteur Jason Diaz zal in het derde seizoen van ‘Charmed’ te zijn zijn als Antonio. Hij wordt omschreven als een zelfverzekerde en charmante klasgenoot van Maggie die als snel haar rivaal wordt. Jason had eerder al gastrollen in de series ‘Good Witch’ en de CW serie ‘The 100’.

The third season of The CW’s Charmed has added actor Jason Diaz in a recurring role. The reboot of the fantasy drama which ran from 1998-2006 is currently in production in Vancouver.

Diaz will play Antonio who is described as “an overly confident but charming classmate of Maggie’s (Sarah Jeffery) who quickly becomes her nemesis.” The series also stars Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock.

Showrunners Liz en Craig hebben laten weten of en zo ja hoe ze de coronapandemie in het verhaallijn zullen laten terugkomen. Ze laten weten het Covid-virus niet direct terug komt in het aankomende verhaallijn, maar dat thema’s als ‘social distancing,’ isolatie en gebrek aan intimiteit terug zal komen in het magische verhaallijn.

We all wish for a magical world where COVID didn’t exist, and Charmed is giving viewers just that when it returns. But that doesn’t mean they won’t still be working in some of life’s recent challenges to their storytelling when they return for season 3. “Though we don’t address COVID directly (or the current pandemic explicitly), we will be exploring themes of ‘social distancing,’ isolation and lack of intimacy in our magical storylines,” said showrunners Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro via email. “We felt it was important to incorporate the emotional struggles we are collectively experiencing at the moment, without making it a literalization of our day to day lives.”
