Tina: African American. Whip-smart, Tina is one dissertation (and one dissertation advisor) away from a PhD. She can be reserved, even standoffish, in uncomfortable situations, but she picks up on
everything and she’s definitely making quick, accurate judgments about you.

Paige: Caucasian Cheerful, curvy, wholesome and as all-American as the apple pie she can’t wait to serve to the husband she has yet to marry. Paige’s main goal in life is to marry a rich doctor and be a wife and mother.

Annie: Caucasian. Intense, smart, and quick to anger. She dresses neutrally, though she could give two s–ts if you like her outfit, so stop wondering what “neutral” means. But under that tough façade, well… there is a fragility. A person desperate to be loved, and love.

More than three years after CBS passed on the Charmed reboot they were working on -which is still talked about a lot by fans all over the world- The CW has landed a prequel to the cult WB series produced by the team of critically acclaimed dramedy Jane The Virgin.

Jane The Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman, as well as producer Brad Silverman, are behind the project which will follow three witches who fight evil in a small New England town during the seventies/eighties (1976), possibly the Halliwells’ ancestors from the Warren Line, the most powerful line of witches in history introduced in the original show. The pilot script is written by Amy Rardin & Jessica O’Toole who already know a thing or two about the 80s and prequel series since they wrote for The Carrie Diaries, prequel of Sex & The City. They also worked on Jane The Virgin, Selfie & Greek.

Brad Silberling, who directed the pilot of Jane The Virgin and also A Series of Unfortunate Events movie (not the upcoming Netflix show) is attached to direct this one as well. CBS Television is the studio, with Propagate Content and Reveal Entertainment.

So don’t expect Alyssa Milano, Shannen Doherty, Holly Mary Combs or Rose McGowan to comeback, at least initially.

It’s not the only series reboot The CW is developing for next season. A Dynasty remake is also in the works.

Witches are the new vampires.

Following the small screen’s witch resurgence this fall (American Horror Story: Coven, Witches of East End and The Originals all debuted to success), CBS is eyeing a reboot of the beloved WB drama Charmed, a source confirms to E! News. The power of three lives on!

As first reported by Vulture, a source tells us CBS TV Studios has a script deal with Party Five’s Chris Keyser and Sydney Sidner to conjure up a reimagining of the original series centered around three sister-witches, played by Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty (with Rose McGowan joining the cast after Doherty’s exit) who use their powers to battle the forces of evil. (Of course, it’s super early in the development process and the network has yet to make a pilot commitment, so the project could end up swept under the rug.)

But it’s not surprising that CBS would want to capitalize on TV’s hot witch trend using Aaron Spelling’s series that arguably made the successes of Lifetime’s Witches of East End, The CW’s The Originals and FX’s American Horror Story: Coven possible.

“I think really it’s due to the success of Charmed and the fact that it had so much success even after it was done, meaning that people looked for it, people searched it out and watched those episode over and over,” Milano, who currently stars on ABC’s Mistresses, told us of the recent witch resurgence. “The Charmed fans are the greatest fans on the planet and the most loyal fans on the planet. I feel like networks are trying to replicate that.”
When we chatted with Combs at a recent Pretty Little Liars event, she wasn’t ready to fully credit the WB drama, which ran for eight years, for paving the wicked way, but said, “I hope that it did. I’m not sure that it did, but I hope that we did and I’m glad that we left some sort of a legacy and I’m glad that people still remember it.”

The Power of Three is making a comeback.

Zenescope Entertainment revealed this week that they’ve obtained the comic book rights for “Charmed,” a supernatural-themed TV series that aired on the WB Network for eight seasons. Created in 1998 by Constance M. Burge, the series followed three sisters — Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Paige (Rose McGowan) — who were descended from a long line of good witches and tasked to face the forces of evil.

Zenescope’s “Charmed” comic book series will pick up with an original story that takes place after the series’ eighth season. Paul Ruditis and Raven Gregory (“The Gift”) are co-writing the title with artist Dave Hoover (“Captain America”). Ruditis has written several books based on TV series — including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Roswell” — in addition to two “Charmed” novels.

“The key to this series success is to strike a nice balance in creating a brand new, intriguing storyline for fans of the television show while also not alienating Zenescope and comic book readers who haven’t really followed it before but might want to now that it’s a comic,” said Zenescope Editor-in-Chief Ralph Tedesco.

“The great thing is that Paul and Raven have done just that with this story arc,” continued Tedesco. “Anybody will be able to pick up this series and follow it whether or not they ever watched the show before. Moreover, fans of the show are going to be thrilled when they see where this story goes.”

Given the newfound freedoms of the comic book medium, it may even be possible for characters like Prue (one of the original Halliwell sisters portrayed by Shannen Doherty) and Cole Turner (Julian McMahon) to return in some form. Both characters were written out of the “Charmed” TV series when their respective actors left the show.

“Charmed # 0” will be released in June and the first issue will debut at the San Diego Comic-Con International in July.
